Bargarh: Vigilance officials apprehended a state government official while taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Friday.
Following a complaint that Balaram Kalari, Senior Revenue Assistant in the office of tehsildar at Ambabhona in the district was demanding Rs 5,000 as bribe for preparing the report on partition of the land of the complainant’s ancestral property and issuing separate RoRs, the Vigilance set a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe and the Vigilance sleuths caught him red-handed while accepting it. They recovered the entire amount from the possession of the accused and seized it.
Sambalpur Vigilance has registered a case under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection and further investigation is on.
