Cuttack: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended Jitendra Kumar Senapati, a junior assistant at the office of Additional Commissioner (Settlement & Consolidation), Kendrapada, while allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 bribe.
According to Vigilance sources, Senapati had allegedly demanded the illegal gratification from the complainant to process a RC case registered in 2022 for correction of plot and khata number. Following which, she reported the matter to the Vigilance authorities through its toll-free No. 1064 and a trap was set accordingly.
The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from Senapati.
Simultaneous searches are currently underway at two locations linked to him to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A case has also been registered against him in Cuttack Vigilance police station under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, the sources added.
