Jharsuguda: Vigilance officials on Thursday apprehended a junior engineer while accepting birbe in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district.
Following a complaint from a contractor that Tikinath Bhainsal, junior engineer in Lakhanpur block was demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 to facilitate payment of his pending bills, the Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, the contractor went to pay Rs 25,000 as first instalment of the demanded bribe to the junior engineer. While Bhainsal was receiving the amount, the Vigilance officials caught him red-handed.
They recovered the bribe amount of Rs 25000 from Bhainsal and seized it.
Rourkela Vigilance has filed a case in this connection under PC Amendment Act 2018 and further investigation is on.
