Koraput: Vigilance has apprehended a Marketing Inspector for taking a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a contractual employee in Odisha’s Koraput district.
Following a complaint by the contractual employee that Mamata Behera, Marketing Inspector in Dasmantpur block of the district was demanding undue advantage (bribe) of Rs 7,000 for processing the utilisation certificate and facilitating release of his monthly remuneration, the Koraput Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe and the Vigilance sleuths caught Behera in front of RD Office while accepting it. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Behera and seized in presence of witnesses.
Following the trap, the Vigilance has launched simultaneous searches on the rented residential house of Behera at Pujariput in Koraput, building at Srihari Nagar, Ankuli, Berhampur and her office room.
Koraput Vigilance has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection and further investigation is on.
