Balangir: Vigilance sleuths apprehended a police officer while accepting bribe in Odisha’s Balangir district on Wednesday.
Following a complaint by a licenced India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) shop owner that Sangram Keshri Pattnaik, Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) of Loisingha police station was demanding a bribe to not take any adverse action against him and his liquor business, the Vigilance laid a trp.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe to the IIC. While Pattnaik was receiving the amount, the Vigilance officials caught him red-handed. They recovered the entire bribe amount of Rs 20,000 from the possession of Pattnaik and seized it.
Sambalpur Vigilance has registered a case under PC Amendment Act, 2018 in this connection and further investigation is in progress.
