Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials apprehended a police officer while accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe in Odisha’s Nayagarh on Thursday.
On a complaint that Prafulla Kumar Deo, Sub-Inspector of Police at Kantilo Outpost as in-charge under Khandapara police limits was demanding Rs 10,000 in order to help release the complainant’s motorcycle seized earlier in connection with a case registered in Khandapada police station, the Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe and the Vigilance sleuths apprehended Deo while accepting it. They recovered the entire bribe amount from the accused and seized it.
Bhubaneswar Vigilance has registered a case under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection and further investigation is on.
