Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday unearthed two multi-storey buildings, one 3-BHK flat worth Rs 1.30 crore and a duplex in Bhubaneswar, two market complexes with 19 shops, nine plots and Rs 9.83 lakh in cash during raids on Deputy Director of Mines (DDM), Talcher, Dharanidhar Nayak on allegation of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to a Vigilance release, simultaneous house searches are being conducted by teams led by 10 DSPs, 16 inspectors, 7 SI/ASIs, and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued bySpecial Judge, Vigilance, Angul, at 8 places in Bhubaneswar, and Keonjhar and Angul districts.
Assets unearthed in the name of Nayak and his family members are as follows:
1. A 3-BHK flat on 2nd floor of Surekha Orchid at Sisu Vihar, Patia, Bhubaneswar, worth around Rs 1.30 crore.
2. A duplex over 1800 sqft area at Sundarpada, Bhubaneswar.
3. A double-storey market complex consisting of 15 shops (9 shops on the ground floor and 6 shops on the 1st floor) at Badinali Sinkulabahal, Jagmohanpur, Telkoi, Keonjhar.
4. Another market complex building consisting of four shops adjacent to it at Jagmohanpur, Telkoi, Keonjhar.
5. A double-storey building under construction near market complex at Badinali Sinkulabahal, Jagmohanpur,Telkoi, Keonjhar.
6. A building at Chhamunda village, Telkoi, Keonjhar.
7. 9 plots – 2 plots in prime area of Bhubaneswar and 7 at Telkoi, Keonjhar.
8. Cash of Rs.9,83,800 (Rs.5,58,800 from Patia flat and Rs 4,25,000 from his residence at Talcher).
9. Loan of Rs 75 lakh taken in 2022 repaid back in 2 years from suspected ill-gotten money.
10. One four-wheeler (TATA Punch)
Bank, insurance & Postal deposits and other investments are being ascertained.
Raid are currently on at these places:
1.Flat No. 205, 2nd floor of Surekha Orchid Sisuvihar, Patia, Bhubaneswar.
2. A double-storey market complex consisting of 15 shops (9 shops on the ground floor and 6 shops on the 1st floor) at Badinali Sinkulabahal, Jagmohanpur Telkoi , Keonjhar.
3. Another double-storey building under construction adjacent to market complex at Badinali Sinkulabahal, Jagmohanpur, Telkoi Keonjhar.
4. A single-storey building at Badinali Sinkulabahal, Jagmohanpur Telkoi, Keonjhar.
5. Paternal house at Chhamunda village, Telkoi, Keonjhar.
6. His temporary residence at Talcher, Angul.
7. Office room of Nayak at Deputy Director Mining, Talcher, Angul
8. A relative’s house at Purumunda village, Ghatagaon, Keonjhar.
The Vigilance sources further said that Nayak joined government service on February 12, 2014, and was posted as mining officer at Koraput. After about 7 years, he was transferred from Koraput and posted at Talcher as mining officer. He promoted to the rank of Deputy Director, Mining, on April 18, 2022.
