Malkangiri: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday raided the residence of Malkangiri district’s Mathili panchayat executive officer (PEO) Ashok Kumar Maharana for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Following simultaneous searches at Maharana’s residence at HI-Tech Colony, a house given on rent and office located at Mathili in the district, three teams of vigilance officials detected movable and immovable assets to the tune of Rs 78,28,147.
Besides recovering Rs 69,238 bank deposits and gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1,94,784, the officials seized Rs 78,28,147 in cash and a Royal Enfield and another Unicorn bike priced at Rs 1,50,000 and Rs 80,000 respectively.
In another incident, vigilance officials carried out raids at three places including parental house of Sonepur police constable Sanat Kumar Hota at Biramaharajpur after a disproportionate assets (DA) case was registered against him.
