Sambalpur: Vigilance officials have detected properties worth more than Rs 1.29 crore in possession of a Village Level Worker (VLW) in the district.
On the allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, the officers of Sambalpur Vigilance Division conducted raids on the properties of Sudam Charan Majhi, Village Level Worker-cum-Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO), New Barangamal panchayat under Jujumura block on Wednesday.
Following the raid on the VLW’s residential triple-storey building at Sakhipada in Dhanupali of Sambalpur city and his office room at Barangamal under Jujumura block in the district, he was found in possession of six plots, two trucks, deposits in different banks, investment in insurance policies, gold & silver ornaments, cash and household articles.
In course of search and inventory, Majhi’s assets were estimated at Rs 1,29,76,537, according to a press release of Director, Vigilance, Cuttack.
