Cuttack: Vigilance has seized more than Rs 10 lakh from a Commandant of Odisha State Armed Police (OASP) in Cuttack city.
Based on reliable information, a team of Vigilance officials intercepted Sunil Kumar Behera, Commandant, 1st Battalion, Dhenkanal near Madhusudan Setu in CDA, Sector-11 on Saturday evening while he was coming to Cuttack in his office vehicle.
During search, the Vigilance sleuths found Rs 1,31,535, suspected to be ill-gotten cash, in his possession. As Behera could not account for the cash satisfactorily, the amount was recovered from him and seized.
Following this, Rs 8.7 lakh was recovered during search in his house at Cuttack. Total cash recovered so far amounts to Rs 10,01, 535.
Following interception, the Vigilance has launched simultaneous searches on properties of Behera at 5 locations from DA angle. He is being examined to ascertain the source of funds.
