Vigilance Raid On RWSS Engr: 3 Buildings, 14 Plots In Bhubaneswar & 2 Other Places Unearthed

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Saturday unearthed two triple-storey and one double-storey buildings, 14 plots, Rs 1.8 lakh in cash, Rs 15 lakh worth of bank deposits during simultaneous raids at six places in Odisha in connection with disproportionate assets (DA) allegedly accumulated by Bijayananda Sahoo, superintending engineer, RWS & S Division, Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the raids were carried out at Sahoo’s office at RWS&S Division, Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar; his triple-storey house at Plot No. ME-19, Mohan Das Enclave at Aiginia in Bhubaneswar; his double-storey building at Dihadol under Parjanga police station limits in Dhenkanal and at his father-in-law’s house in Pangatira under Parjang police station limits in Dhenkanal.

Searches are also being conducted at Sahoo’s triple-storey building in Susuda under Town Police limits in Angul and his son-in-law’s official residence on Nalco Campus under Nalco Township police limits in Angul district.

Details of Assets Unearthed: 

1) One triple-storey building at Mohan Das Enclave, Aiginia, Bhubaneswar

2) Another triple-storey building at Susuda in Angul district

3) Double-storey building at Dihadol in Dhenkanal district

4) 14 plots in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, Angul and Dhenkanal

5) Rs 1,80,000 in cash

6) Rs 15 lakh bank deposits

7) One four-wheeler (Grand i-10 Sportz).

According to a vigilance release, the triple-storey building in Angul is in the name of his sister-in-law while the electric connection is still in his wife’s name. Similarly, six plots in name of his sister-in-law and five in the name of his brother-in-law are suspected to have been acquired by Sahoo as Benami properties.  The measurement and valuation/assessment of the buildings/plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing, it added.
