Mumbai: National Award winner, actor Vikrant Massey in a recent interview confirmed that he is playing the male lead in Karan Johar’s much-awaited ‘Dostana 2’ along with Lakshya.
With this confirmation, Vikrant has put all rumours of replacing Kartik Aaryan, who was initially supposed to play the lead role in the film, to rest.
Back in 2019, the project was announced with Kartik, Lakshya and Janhvi in the lead.
However, after reports of a fallout between KJo and Kartik, no further updates regarding the film was known.
Now, in an interview with Times Now, Vikrant shared, “I think this news is already out. I don’t know why I’m not talking. I’m doing Dostana 2. I’m doing my first Dharma movie.”
When asked about the female lead opposite him, Vikrant replied, “I think wo main nahi bolunga. Wo Karan sir hi bolenge toh behtar hai. Uski bhi toh badi announcement hai. (I think, I shouldn’t be revealing this. It’s better if Karan sir makes this revelation. It is also a big announcement.)”
Vikrant further shared that in the film, he will be seen in an all new avatar, sporting designer clothes and trendy sunglasses, and will be shooting for the film in Europe, something which he has not done in the past.
While the actor didn’t divulge any information about the female lead, he did confirm that Lakshya is a part of the film.
“Lakshya is a part of the movie. But let the girl be a surprise,” he said.
‘Dostana 2’ is a sequel to Tarun Mansukhani and Karan Johar’s 2008 film ‘Dostana’, which featured Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles.
Meanwhile, Vikrant was recently honoured with the National Award in the Best Actor category for his film ’12th Pass’.
