Kendrapara: Two robbers were caught by villagers while escaping with stolen gold jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 1.60 lakh cash at Kakatpur village in Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Saturday night.
Six armed robbers broke into the house of Kartik Swain at Kakatpur village between 12 am and 1 am on Saturday night. Swain and other family members were asleep by then.
The robbers tied Swain and some other family members when they tried to resist, and also fired in the air to terrorise the family, according to reports.
But other villagers rushed to the spot on hearing the gunshots and caught two of the robbers. A pistol and two motorcycles were seized from the spot by the police. A hunt is on to arrest the other four robbers.
