Angul: Villagers here on Sunday created a ruckus after ambulances rushed to the village to shift infected patients to the COVID hospital.
According to sources, another 37 COVID-19 patients have been identified from Angul district on Sunday. The highest number of patients were detected from Angul block and Sharadhapur village.
Following this, the administration sent two ambulances to Sharadhapur village and Angul block for shifting the patients to COVID Hospital. However, when the ambulances reached the village, the villagers stopped the ambulances and started protesting. They refused to allow the ambulances and insisted on detailed information about the patients.
On receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene. However, the villagers stuck to their protest and the ambulance had to return empty.
Later, the patients were shifted to COVID Hospital after the local sarpanch and Block Development Officer (BDO) pacified the villagers.
