Villagers Rescue Minor From Being Raped

Daringbadi/Brahamnigaon: A five-year-old girl was rescued from being raped by a youth who had kidnapped and tried to rape her after taking her to an isolated forest. Villagers working in a field under Brahmanigaon police outpost under Daringbadi block in Kandhamal heard her cries and came to rescue her immediately.

According to sources, the little girl was playing in her house courtyard when the accused approached her and lured her by giving offering some sweets. He then took her to a forest near the village and tried to outrage her modesty.

The angry villagers overpowered the accused and thrashed him before informing the police. A case has been registered and the accused has been detained for further interrogation.

“We have detained the youth and interrogation is on,” Brahmanigaon outpost officer Ranjit Kumar Muni said. There are many other cases against the youth, police said.
