Bhubaneswar: “Stay healthy is a right and also a responsibility. If we stay healthy, we can do something for our family, our society and the country at large. To be able lead a healthy life, we need to keep our surroundings clean,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said during ‘Ama Gaon Ama Vikas’ programme on Saturday.
To encourage people to work towards cleanliness, the Chief Minister announced that villages, panchayats and blocks will be judged and awarded for keeping the environment clean. They should live by the motto, ‘Clean village, healthy village’, he said.
He discussed the issue with the lakhs of people of 10 districts through video conferencing during the programme.
“A good and clean environment always encourage people to do good work,” Naveen said.
He requested all the people to use toilets and motivate others to do the same.
He explained the advantages of various welfare programmes of the government and using toilets.
“We should take care to keep our surroundings clean. It will help keep diseases at bay,” the Chief Minister said.
Quoting father of nation Mahatma Gandhi, he added, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.”
