VIMSAR associate professor suspended for dereliction of duty

Sambalpur: Associate Professor of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, Dr Gautam Kumar Satpathy was suspended by the institute authorities on Monday. He was allegedly found treating patients at his residence on Saturday.
The associate professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery was caught in a sting operation conducted by VIMSAR director Aswini Kumar Pujari following allegations that he and some other doctors were attending to patients privately during office hours.
Accordingly, a show-cause notice was served on Dr Gautam and he was asked to reply within 48 days. The doctor was suspended after he failed to give any satisfactory answer. An inquiry will also be conducted into the matter by the authorities.
