Sambalpur: A doctor at VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla in Sambalpur district was allegedly thrashed by two youths on Sunday afternoon.
According to sources, the two youths entered the Neurology department around 12 pm and allegedly thrashed Prof Suryakant Patjoshi when he refused to accompany them to a private nursing home.
Some medical students caught hold of them as they were trying to flee. They then gheraoed the hospital and demanded a probe into the incident.
On being informed, police reached the hospital and detained the two for interrogation. One of them, however, managed to escape while being taken to the police station.
