Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will appoint a permanent director for Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) by this December, Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kumar Das said on Sunday.
The minister said the state government had twice put advertisements in the media to invite applications from eligible candidates for the post of VIMSAR director. “Since the government has not received any application till date, it will place another advertisement,” he added.
Notably, the permanent post of the VIMSAR director had fallen vacant after the resignation of Dr Ashwini Puhajari on February 9.
As Pujahari had gone on leave from December 17 last year following a government order, Prof Prakash Mahapatra was appointed as the in-charge director of VIMSAR the next day.
On June 24, the state government had appointed the superintendent of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, Prof Dhirendranath Maharana, as the acting director of VIMSAR.
