Violent Group Clash Sparks Tension In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed in Unit VI area of the city as two groups of youths were engaged in a pitched battle with firearms and sharp weapons on Wednesday evening.

According to sources, a group of 10 to 12 youths were sitting at a place behind the Capital Hospital when another group attacked them. The members of both groups chased one another on the road and attacked with swords and other sharp weapons.

As two youths of warring groups reportedly fired shots, the local shop-keepers got panicked and downed the shutters. With the violent clash continuing for some time, the shocked locals informed the police.

But, by the time police reached the spot, the two groups had fled. The clash is suspected to be a fallout of old rivalry. The police have started investigation to identify the youths and trace them, the sources said.
