Cuttack: The authorities of SCB Medical College and Hospital at Odisha’s Cuttack city have suspended a lift operator after he was found drinking alcohol inside a ticket counter in a video that had gone viral on social media on Sunday.
The video showed the man wearing a uniform of an outsourced agency consuming drink while a woman employee is booking tickets for the patients inside a counter in the hospital building. The video did not mention the department or wing of Odisha’s prestigious hospital. But it has come to light that the video was shot in the counter of Trauma Casualty ward of the hospital.
Dr Abinash Rout, administrative officer of SCB Hospital, had admitted that he had seen the video and they were examining it to ascertain the identity of the man. He had also assured of action against the person.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Dr Rout said the man has been identified as Santosh Nayak who works as a lift operator in the hospital. Nayak has been employed by an outsourced agency.
He further said Santosh has been suspended from service and debarred him from entering the hospital campus. The agency has also been issued a notice in this regard, he added.
It may be noted that a video showing a man accepting bribe from a youth to provide him a job in the SCB Hospital had gone viral in July.
