Bhubaneswar: Video of a toddler girl tied to the window of a hotel at Khandagiri Square in Odisha capital and being thrashed by its staff has gone viral, creating outrage among people.
Taking cognisance of the matter, Bhubaneswar Childline lodged a complaint in this regard with Khandagiri police on Saturday.
In the video, the one-and-a-half-year-old girl can be seen tied to the window of the hotel with a towel and the staff hitting her face with a stick. They can also be seen threatening and screaming at the child, who is crying profusely. The incident was captured by a local, who witnessed the brutality. And all this was happening while the parents of the toddler were working inside the hotel, sources said.
“The parents were aware of the incident but refused to disclose the details or file an FIR, fearing the miscreants,” director of Childline Benudhar Senapati said.
District child protection unit and police have started investigating the matter.
