Mumbai: A day after a report stated that Virat Kohli is the top-earning Indian on Instagram, the cricket star issued a clarification on his earnings from the social media platform.
“While I am grateful and indebted to all that I’ve received in life, the news that has been making rounds about my social media earnings is not true,” the former Team India captain tweeted on Saturday.
According to an Instagram Rich List compiled by Hopper HQ — a social media marketing solutions platform — Kohli is the world’s third-richest sportsperson on Instagram and the only Indian among top 25 personalities.
Hopper HQ’s report said that Kohli earns up to Rs 14 crore per post on Instagram, to be behind only the two football megastars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Kohli, however, has denied making that much money, without specifying any amount.
The 34-year-old batter is currently on a break from international cricket, but will to be back for India’s campaign in the Asia Cup which will get underway later this month in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
