Rayagada: Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger train derailed near Palasa in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday evening.
According to sources, the train coming from Visakhapatnam in Andhra to Rayagada in Odisha jumped the tracks near Alamanda railway station under Palasa tehsil in Vijaynagaram district.
Some compartments have derailed and were standing outside the tracks. No casualty has been reported so far. But the compartments were reportedly damaged seriously due to the mishap.
Railway officials have rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of the locals and some voluntary organisations, the sources said.
