Rourkela: The viscera report has ruled out murder of Rourkela Assistant Collector Sushmita Minz in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, police claimed on Monday.
Speaking to media persons here, Banita Majhi, Rourkela DSP of Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) of Odisha Police the viscera report has confirmed that Minz died due to drowning. The post-mortem report earlier had also stated that the drowning was antemortem in nature.
On the allegation of Minz’s brother Sandip Minz that she was murdered, Majhi ruled it out. However, the DSP said they were investigating other angles that could have been the reason behind the death.
After the autopsy report attributed Minz’s death to drowning and ruled out possibility of homicide, Sandip had alleged there were cut marks on both hands, scratches on her neck and leg and burn-like injuries on her back. But the DSP said, “There was no evidence of murder and there was no injury on the body.”
The police had received the viscera report of Minz from the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL).
Minz was found dead in the pond of Sensory Park within Plant Site police limits in Rourkela on September 19. The police have already examined more than 20 persons including Sundargarh Collector in the case. The statements of her family members have also been recorded.
