Idols of Lord Vishwakarma were installed at various workshops, factories and mechanical shops at Sahid Nagar, Cuttack Road, Mancheswar and Rasulgarh industrial estates. Special feasts and cultural programmes were also arranged by the workers at their respective workplaces.
“Lord Vishwakarma is the god of architecture and engineering. We celebrate the festival by worshipping our tools and instruments on the premises to seek blessings of the Lord for a better future,” said Ranjit Biswal, an engineer.
Devotional songs, bhajans and modern songs were played at most of the puja pandals decked up with special decorations and colourful lighting arrangements.
“Lord Vishwakarma had created several important weapons for Indian gods. All construction works were performed by Him. Worshipping Him can brings good luck and prosperity to those engaged in mechanical and other construction-related works,” says Hemant Mishra, a priest at a puja pandal in Mancheswar area.
