Moscow: Vladimir Putin on Friday accused Ukrainian authorities of stalling peace talks between the two countries.
The Russian President made the allegation during a phone call with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Moscow, he claimed, was ready to search for solutions.
“It was noted that the Kyiv regime is trying in every possible way to stall negotiations, putting forward more and more unrealistic proposals. Nevertheless, the Russian side is ready to continue to search for solutions in line with its well-known principled approaches,” the Kremlin said after the conversation between the two leaders.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, there have been multiple rounds of bilateral negotiations to try and end the war. Some progress was reported but nothing concrete has fructified so far, except for agreements on temporary ceasefire to facilitate evacuation of those wanting to leave the country.
Scholz reiterated the call for a ceasefire in Ukraine, a German government spokesperson was quoted as saying by Reuters.
In their nearly hour-long conversation, the German Chancellor stressed on the need to improve the humanitarian situation and find a diplomatic solution as soon as possible, the spokesperson added.
On Day 23 of their military operation against Ukraine, Russian forces struck an area around the airport in the western city of Lviv.
The capital city of Kyiv also came under another round of heavy bombardment.
