New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin will be visiting India soon, Kremlin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov announced on Tuesday.
“Specific dates of President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India will soon be announced and Russia will begin preparing for it,” Peskov stated.
“I hope we’ll soon work out the precise dates of his visit… Of course, after two visits of Prime Minister Modi to Russia, now we have a visit of the President to India, so we’re looking forward to it,” Peskov added.
Modi, who is serving a record-equalling third term as India’s Prime Minister, has already visited Russia twice this year – in July to attend the 22nd India-Russia annual summit and last month for the 16th BRICS summit.
Like the two nations, Modi and Putin share a cordial personal relation.
Despite Russia waging war on Ukraine for 1,000 days, India has repeatedly abstained from voting against Moscow on resolutions in the United Nations. India’s stand has been to appeal Russia and Ukraine to resolve differences and end the war through dialogue and discussion.
India has also continued to purchase oil from Russia, which has not gone down well with the United States-led western bloc
