Sambalpur: Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, has been shut down for a day following the suspected death of a lecturer’s husband due to COVID-19 on Tuesday.
According to sources, the deceased was working as a senior official in NALCO, Angul. He had tested positive for the virus last afternoon and breathed his last this morning. He had recently travelled to corona hotspot Ganjam to perform the last rites of his mother-in-law.
While contact tracing is on and swab sample of the lecturer has been collected for COVID-19 test.
The authorities will take a decision on further extension of the shutdown later in the day, the sources added.
