Walkathon, Health Camp Held On World Diabetes Day

Bhubaneswar: To spread awareness on the impact of diabetes on the family and to promote the role of the family in diabetes management, care, prevention and education, AMRI Hospitals on Wednesday organised a Walkathon in association with Silver Age Foundation for Elders at BJB Nagar, Bhubaneswar. This year’s theme for World Diabetes Day is ‘Diabetes Concerns Every Family. Health Minister Pratap Jena was present as a guest. He said, “The Government of Odisha is providing special healthcare facilities to the people, like free dialysis for those suffering from a kidney problem. We are also planning to provide free healthcare treatment in all government hospitals.”
A health check-up camp at Buxi Jagabandhu Nagar Peoples Association, BJB Nagar was held to mark the day.
Around 200 senior citizens attended the Health Awareness talk delivered by AMRI Hospitals Diabetics Specialist, Dr Ritesh Agarwal. “Healthy living is essential to minimise the incidence of diabetes.
Diabetes leads to obesity and heart diseases in many cases. Managing
diabetes is not a science, it is an art. AMRI Hospitals continues its efforts to set a healthy life as well as society,” said AMRI Hospitals VP Unit Head Lakhmi Narayan Reddy Chinnam. “A total of 425 million adults (1-in-11) have diabetes. Families need to live in an environment that supports healthy lifestyles and helps to prevent diabetes,” said co-founder and trustee of Silver AFoundation for Elders, Amar Jyoti Mahapatra.
