Berhampur: A portion of the boundary wall of a girls’ hostel in Berhampur University caved in on Thursday afternoon, triggering panic among students.
Luckily, no one was injured in the wall collapse.
Following the incident, some inmates of the Saberi hostel who were inside their room ran away and informed the authorities.
Later, university authorities went to the hostel to investigate.
The girl students said it was strange that while there was no damage in the old hostel for girls, such an incident had taken place in the new hostel.
The university authorities in an emergency meeting later in the day declared the hostel as unsafe and announced to accommodate the girls in other girls’ hostels in the university premises.
