Police Bullets Hit Wanted Criminal In Kendrapara

Kendrapara: A wanted criminal, involved in the murder of a youth at Kandira village, was injured in an encounter with the police on Rajnagar-Gupti Road on Tuesday.

The injured criminal, identified as Sanjay Biswal alias Babu, was admitted to Community Health Centre (CHC) at Rajnagar and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Notably, four youths had called out Kishore Sethi of Kandira village from his house on Monday morning and shot him dead.

Two youths we’re arrested in this connection. During interrogation, police came to know about the involvement of Babu in this incident and began a manhunt to nab him.

Acting on a tip-off that Babu was seen riding a motorcycle on Rajnagar-Gupti Road, a team of Pattamundai police raided the area. Seeing the police, Babu opened fire at them. As the police retaliated, two bullets hit his left leg and he fell off the mobike.

A country-made revolver, two live bullets and the bike were seized from his possession.

According to police, Babu has over 10 criminal cases of loot and murder pending against him in different police stations in the district.
