Kolkata: The war of words between newly-joined BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari and Abhishek Banerjee of Trinamool Congress (TMC) continues.
A day after Abhishek dubbed Suvendu ‘scam-tainted’, the BJP leader hit back by saying that the claims of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew are manipulated.
Challenging Abhishek, Suvendu said he will make lotus ‘bloom’ within the former’s family by February 16.
“Abhishek has been a scam-tainted person since childhood. He claimed he has done an MBA from a university that doesn’t exist. Lotus has already bloomed in my family and by February 16, I will make lotus bloom at Abhishek’s residence,” Suvendu quipped.
Responding to Abhishek’s claim that he was seen in a sting video taking bribes, Suvendu said just because the other leaders in the video didn’t defect, they are not scam-tainted.
“There are several other leaders in the sting video. Just because Mukul Roy and I defected to the saffron camp, we are bad,” argued Suvendu.
A Narada sting video shot by Mathew Samuel showed several heavyweight leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress accepting money.
Suvendu claimed that Abhishek was behind the sting operation, just to malign other leaders of TMC.
“Today Abhishek is showing a letter written by Sarada scam kingpin Sudipto Sen, but the truth is it was forcibly written on December 1 so that they can hide their scams,” claimed former state transport minister Suvendu.
On Sunday, Abhishek had warned that he will take revenge against the ‘traitors’ who had defected from TMC to BJP, if the ruling party was voted to power for the third time.
