Wards In India’s Largest COVID-19 Hospital To Be Named After Galwan Valley Martyrs

New Delhi: In a fitting tribute, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has decided to name wards at India’s largest COVID-19 treatment facility after soldiers who sacrificed their lives confronting the Chinese troops at Ladakh’s Galwan Valley last month.

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel hospital, erected at the south Delhi premises of a religious organization, is a makeshift facility which can  accommodate and treat 10,000 coronavirus patients at the same time, reports ANI.

The temporary hospital, being managed by medical experts from he Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), has started functioning recently and is roughly the size of 20 football fields combined. The Delhi government is providing administrative support.

The makeshift hospital, which is divided into blocks consisting of 100 beds each, has two segments. The Covid Care Centre (CCC) is for treatment of asymptomatic positive cases and Dedicated Covid Health Care (DCHC) is for treatment of more serious cases and is equipped with oxygen support system.

The CCC has 90% beds while DCHC has 10% beds.
