Bhubaneswar: Vipul, Consul General of India, Dubai was accorded a warm send off by senior members of expatriate group ‘GOOD’ – Global Odias for Odisha’s Development on Thursday.
A 1998 batch IFS officer, Vipul has a strong connection with Odisha as he started his career as an employee of the Rourkela Steel Plant. He was based in Rourkela for around six months. He is now leaving Dubai after a three-year stint.
A three-member delegation of GOOD comprising Capt Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, CEO of a shipping company; Priyadarshee Panigrahi, general manager of an Indian FMCG company and Rajesh Tripathy, general manager of a global business school presented a ‘Sambalpuri Jatha’ and a citation to Vipul.
Vipul used to participate in all Odia functions like Utkal Divas and Nuakhai. He was also an admirer of the Odissi dance.
He supported the demand for the regular air connectivity to the newly inaugurated Jharsuguda airport by pursuing it with the Central Government in 2018.
