New Delhi: The alleged kingpin in the Rs 5600-crore drug bust is a former Congress party worker, India Today reported quoted police sources said.
Tushar Goyal was arrested along with three others on Wednesday after a Delhi Police raid on a godown on the outskirts of Delhi resulted in the recovery of over 500 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana, worth over Rs 5,600 crore.
During police interrogation, Goyal revealed that he worked as chairman of the RTI cell of the Delhi Pradesh Congress until 2022. He uses “Dikki Goyal” in his social media profiles. His social media pages have photographs of prominent Congress leaders, including Lok Sabha MP Deepender Singh Hooda, KC Venugopal, and Uday Bhan.
BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi presented an offer letter dated March 22, 2022, purportedly appointing Goel as the RTI Cell chief of Indian Youth Congress, with mentions of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He also shared Goyal’s pictures with prominent Congress leaders.
The BJP MP also posed three questions to the Congress and asked if the grand old party had used the recovery for election purposes. “Tushar Goyal is the chief of Indian Youth Congress RTI Cell…What relations does the Congress party have with him (Tushar Goyal)?… Is this relationship only political or financial dimension is involved? Was this money being used in elections by the Congress party?… Does some leaders of the Congress have any arrangements with the drug peddlers?… Congress especially the Hooda family should come clear on its connection with Tushar Goyal,” he told a presser.
He added that Rahul Gandhi’s ‘mohabbat ki dukan’ (shop of love) where earlier, only items of hatred were available is now selling intoxicants as well.
