Mumbai: Not many in India had heard the name of LizLaz till a month ago.
Almost overnight, the South African-German travel vlogger, singer and influencer became famous in April after Team India star Virat Kohli’s Instagram account appeared to have liked one of her posts on social media.
Soon, the incident became a massive talking point on internet.
LizLaz is
back in the spotlight after she revealed in a recent interview that she was contacted by some mediapersons who allegedly offered her money to make false claims about Kohli.
“Some journalists even offered me money to say bad things about him (Virat Kohli) and make allegations about things he never did. But why would I do that?” LizLaz told with Filmymantra Media.
LizLaz said Kohli is her favourite cricketer, and that she has no intention to damage his reputation for “money or publicity.”
Born in South Africa to a German mother and a South African father, Lizlaz graduated with an MSc in Psychology and is also a certified lifesaving swimmer.
Lizlaz said she is a fan of Kohli’s team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
“When I was very young, we lived at a beach close to Cape Town. I love supporting my local team. Bengaluru feels like the most homely place for me in India,” she said.
