Bhubaneswar: Veteran leader Damodar Rout on Tuesday said that he was expelled from the BJD for calling party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik a thief.
“Naveen Patnaik had sacked senior leaders from BJD by branding them as thieves. But he sacked me from the party after I called him as a thief. I will continue to openly call him a thief and am ready the face the consequences. The people of Odisha desperately want to be relieved of the two-decade-long corruption and misrule of the BJD government,” he added.
Talking about his political future, Dama said, “I am 77 years old with 44 years of political career. What is my future now? Whatever I see, I say. People are coming to me to listen. But I don’t know what they will do during the election.”
Reacting to the statement of the veteran leader, BJD leader Ashok Panda said his statement to the media keeps changing. “But the people of Odisha are not with his assumptions which will be proved wrong in the ensuing Assembly elections,” he maintained.
