Cuttack: Three boys slipped into the deep water of Mahanadi at Jobra barrage near Odisha’s Cuttack city while taking bath on Sunday.
One among them was rescued in a critical condition by locals, but he succumbed while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital here. The other two are still missing and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ORDRAF) along with Fire Fighting teams have launched a search operation in the river to trace them.
According to sources, a group of seven Plus II, second year, students had gone to Jobra Annicut for taking bath. The mishap occurred around 2:30 pm when one of them got swept away in the water body. The other two youths went missing while trying to rescue him.
The three boys, identified as Chhotu, Raj and Sahil, are residents of Chunabhati Charigharia, the sources added.
