Bhubaneswar: Two brown sugar peddlers were arrested by Odisha Police and Rs 60 lakh worth of the contraband was seized from them. The narcotic trade was flourishing under the garb of fish sale at Hi-Tech Hospital area of the capital city.
On a tip-off, a joint raid was conducted by Quick Action Team (QAT) of Odisha Police and Mancheswar police and two persons were nabbed. The arrested are residents of Jaleswar in Balasore district, said Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi.
Brown sugar weighing 518 grams, a four-wheeler, two mobile phones, Rs 1,900 cash were seized from them.
Priyadarsi said “We will continue the crackdown on drug trafficking in the state. A case under Sections 21 (c) and 29 of NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered against both the accused. They will be produced in the court soon.”
