Puri: A giant whale washed ashore near Fatepur village under Krushnaprasad block in Puri district.
The whale, measuring about 42 feet long and weighing 20 tonnes, was noticed by some fishermen on Thursday morning. Sources said it was battling for life and had some injuries.
Local fishermen said about 10 years the carcass of whale was spotted by local fishermen at the same spot.
Forest officials had not reached the spot for necessary action till the report was filed.
