Shimla: It was a scene straight out of movies as a three-storeyed building came crashing down in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.
Videos which went viral show the building, located in Chopal market, collapsing like a pack of cards.
Fortunately, no loss of life was reported as the building was vacated before it collapsed.
Watch clips of building collapse shared on Twitter:
A branch of UCo Bank, a dhaba, a bar and some other business establishments were housed in the building.
Today being the second Saturday of the month, it was a bank holiday, so none of the seven employees were present in the bank located on the top floor of the building.
“As per information provided to me, some men sitting in the bar on the ground floor suddenly noticed some cracks in window glasses,” said Ramesh Dadhwal, chief manager at UCo Bank’s Zonal Branch.
Realizing the danger, they immediately ran out of the building and alerted other people present in the bar and dhaba, Dadhwal added.
