Mumbai: A 43-year-old man died and 17 people were injured after a five-storey residential building collapsed in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on Monday.
While 25 have been rescued, another 70 are feared trapped under the debris.
The 10-year-old building with 45 flats collapsed around 7 pm. The top three floors of the building collapsed first followed by the rest. Whether there was negligence by the builder is not known yet, but old buildings are known to get damaged due to heavy rain.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have moved in to start rescue operations.
Meanwhile, a video showing a plume of dust rising after the building collapsed has gone viral.
