Mumbai: Amid persistent rumours about possible marital discord between Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a video has surfaced on social media in which the former is seen announcing his divorce.
The video, which features noticeable lip-syncing issues, has been widely condemned by netizens who suspect it to be fake.
In the alleged AI-generated video, Abhishek is heard saying, “…This July, me and Aishwarya both have decided to get divorced.”
It was shared on Instagram by a fan page with the caption, “I do not know the authenticity of the video, whether it is true or fabricated. Until now, rumours abound day after day, and none of them have spoken out.”
Despite the swirling rumours, neither Abhishek nor Aishwarya has publicly addressed the status of their marriage.
The speculation had heightened when Aishwarya attended the star-studded wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant with her daughter Aaradhya and was noticeably absent from family photos featuring the rest of the Bachchan clan. Fans also questioned the absence of his wife after Abhishek was recently spotted at the Paris 2024 Olympics and was seen cheering for Neeraj Chopra.
Notably, celebrities such as Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, and Kajol have also been victim of deepfake technology.
