Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik advised the newly-elected Mayors of municipalities and Chairpersons of urban local bodies to work hard to solve the problems of people and make the city a better place to live.
Speaking at the Orientation programme for newly elected Mayors and Chairpersons in Urban Local Bodies at Lok Seva Bhavan, here Naveen congratulated the elected women representatives and asked them work for the welfare of people and keep their trust.
Speaking about the development and welfare project undertaken by the government, Naveen said Odisha is the only state in the country to implement Sujal project to provide safe drinking water from taps. Naveen also focusssed on government’s flagship programmes like Jaga Mission, Sujal, Aahaar, Smart LED Light, among others.
Under Jaga Mission 1,75,000 families have been given land rights and 585 slums have been converted into Adarsh (model) Colony.
Under Sujal, clean drinking water is being provided in Puri and work is underway in 20 cities across the state.
Similarly, MUKTA Yojana, which was started for the city’s poor and migrant workers during COVID pandemic will continue and Rs 500 crore has been allocated for it in the budget.
Stressing on sanitation he asked the ULB representatives to focus on cleanliness and waste management. He also advised implementing 5T principle at every level and providing better services to the people.
He hoped that the new leadership and new management techniques would be successful in bringing municipal services to new heights.
