Hyderabad: Riding high on Pushpa 2’s success, Allu Arjun recently attended one of the movie’s success bashes, where he acknowledged the maker of Chhaava for moving their release date. The reason behind a solo release film got a massive hit.
Pushpa 2: The Rule was released on December 6 last year. Initially, the Vicky Kaushal-helmed film Chhaava was set to release on the same date.
Expressing his gratitude towards the Indian film industry for their support, he shared an instance when he reached out to a filmmaker from Hindi cinema. “I’m not a fan of the word Bollywood. In Hindi cinema, I called somebody and I said, they were also supposed to come also on December 6. They were very accommodating, and they moved from that date. I called them personally and thanked them for moving the date, and they said, ‘We’re all fans of Pushpa’, and if you come, then we will make way for it,” he said, acknowledging their gesture.
The event for Pushpa 2 in Hyderabad marked his first public appearance following his arrest and subsequent bail in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case.
Pushpa 2 has achieved a historic milestone at the box office, surpassing all previous records. According to Sacnilk, the film amassed ₹1,232.30 crore in India and over ₹1,738 crore worldwide.
The makers of Chhaava chose to shift the release date to avoid competing directly with Sukumar’s highly anticipated sequel. The historical drama, which revolves around the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, will now hit the theatres on February 14, 2025. Interestingly, the release date holds special significance since it coincides with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on February 19.
Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta also play key roles in the film.
