Mumbai: After being trolled for spreading misinformation about the destruction of coronavirus, B-town’s esteemed actor Amitabh Bachchan seems to have landed in soup again with his recent tweet that claims houseflies to be carriers of the Covid-19 virus.
In a video on his Twitter handle, Mr Bachchan is seen talking about a discovery by Chinese experts that claims houseflies sitting on excreta to be carriers of the novel coronavirus.
In the video posted on Wednesday, Big B stated, “Chinese experts have discovered that coronavirus can survive in human excreta for weeks. Even if the patient recovers fully, the virus can survive in his excreta for a few weeks. If a fly were to sit on such a person’s excreta, and then sit on fruits, vegetables or other food items, the disease can spread further.”

According to a report by hindustantimes.com, Mr. Bachchan’s video was retweeted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
However, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Lav Aggrawal dismissed the claim stating that houseflies don’t spread COVID-19 virus.
At a press conference on Thursday, Lav Aggarwal said, “I have not seen Mr. Bachchan’s tweet, but technically I can say that this is an infectious disease and does not spread through flies.”
Earlier, Mr. Bachchan had shared a theory on Twitter, which claimed that clapping together on March 22 at 5 pm would make such a vibration in the atmosphere that coronavirus would be destroyed. However, the actor deleted the tweet after being criticised for spreading misinformation.
