[Watch] Artist Makes Life-Size Chocolate Bust Of King Charles III Ahead Of Coronation

New Delhi: King Charles III  will be formally coronated on May 6 at Westminster Abbey and preparations are going on in full swing.  To mark this eventful day, a life-sized chocolate bust of the King has been unveiled by confectionary brand Celebrations.

Created by chocolate artist Jen Lindsey-Clark, the sculpture took four weeks to create and weighs over 23 kg. “That’s the equivalent of 2,875 individual Celebrations chocolates,” the company noted on Instagram. To create the ornamental shoulder pieces of his uniform, miniature bars of Snickers, Mars, Twix, Milky Way, Galaxy, and Bounty were used. The King’s collar has been made from Maltesers Teasers. Each of these chocolates, including Snickers, was used to create the medals.

Calling it “a majestic sculpture”, Clark said, “It is made from Celebrations chocolates. The chocolate sculpture has taken my team and me 130 hours – from the sketching stage all the way through to sculpting it and casting it in chocolate. This sculpture is 60 cm tall and it weighs just over 23 kg.”

The artist added that she loves working with chocolates. “It is a brilliant medium to work in. I can sculpt it, I can mould it, I can cut it, I can core it, I can do loads of stuff with it. And if all else fails, I can melt it down and start again,” she added.

Talking of King Charles III’s sculpture, Clark said, “We made the jacket out of a collection of the chocolates sometimes as a clay, so that we melted it down and used it to create the form. And then we used individual chocolates to create the epaulettes and the details in the medals. I am delighted with the final piece. I am very happy and it’s been a really enjoyable experience.”

The team studied hours of footage of the King to capture his true likeness and the resemblance is uncanny, Emily Owen, Senior Brand Manager, Mars Wrigley’s, was quoted as saying in the press release. “Celebrations is all about bringing people together and we are thrilled to be sharing this occasion with so many chocolate lovers up and down the country. What better way to celebrate this moment in British history than immortalising HM King Charles III using the nation’s ultimate sharing treat.”
