Puri: Sand animator Manas Kumar Sahoo has created a sand animation film based on Srimandira Parikrama Prakalpa (heritage corridor project) of Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri.
The animation film of 5 minute and 30 second depicts transformation of the surrounding of the famous temple, which is thronged by lakhs of devotees everyday, under the initiative of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
It shows how narrow roads, congestion due to encroachment, filth and garbage on the Bada Danda (Grand Road) leading to the temple, posing discomfort to the devotees, have been replaced with spacious place with various facilities. The new facilities including Sri Setu, AC terminal, toilets, huge parking system, and landscaping on the road are shown through animation in the film.
During the film, Sahoo also explains the reasons that led the state government to take up the project to convert the pilgrim town into an international destination.
It took him around 15 hours to make this sand animation film.
