Puri: Snana Bedi (bathing altar) at Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Pilgrim Town of Puri will be repaired ahead of the Deva Snana Purnima, which is a prelude to the annual Rath Yatra of the sibling deities.
“We had visited the spot and the Snana Bedi needs repairing. We have requested the Archaeological Survey of India to take up the repair work. Law Minister will hold a review meeting tomorrow,” Puri Collector Samarth Verma informed on Tuesday.
After a gap of two years, devotees will be able to witness the Snana Yatra of Lord Jagannath and His siblings at Srimandir. They will be allowed to witness rituals from near Snana Mandap after Hati Besha and also participate in the ‘Sahana Mela’ of the sibling deities for 2-3 hours.
The collector further informed that the second coordination meeting for the smooth conduct of the chariots’ constructions and the festival will be held on Wednesday and individual meetings with Nijogs will be conducted thereafter.
“Chariot work is being done in double shifts and is head of the schedule,” he added.
